About us
Our home-based 'Artisans Obsessions' Business was created with products already being used at home, allowing us to share with others the simplicity and diversity of ways to take care of ourselves, daily.
In 2021after suffering a brain injury secondary to a brain bleed, our lives changed completely. I went from being completely independent, having a job, and taking care of and providing for my family at home, to requiring 24/7 care, losing my license, losing my job, and needing therapy in hopes of getting my old life back.
As you would imagine, not being able to bring in some income affected our family financially. To make matters worse- at the same time, my father-in-law started to quickly deteriorate which forced my husband to have to quit his job and take care of his father and myself- his wife.
With time, my father-in-law went to be with the Lord and I slowly started to improve. Finally being able to do the simple things on my own like getting dressed or even being able to sit on the couch unsupervised was a big accomplishment!
Months down the road I was now able to do most of the basic daily tasks and some!- I started to drive even! what a feeling that was!! I felt like I was 16 again!!! oh, the things you take for granted!!!!
By the way-- did I mention all of this was also during COVID-19?! That's right... Once I was cleared to go back to work by my medical team--- the Covid restrictions, unfortunately, made it nearly impossible to get a "light duty" job. So, this is how and when- Artisans Obsessions came to life!
I have always been one to be creative and determined. One day while having bad muscle spasms on my shoulder, I remember my son warming up a heat pack my mom had made off an old sock-- I thought to myself, "Man, this helps immensely with spasms..." but at the same time I thought "wow... this is an old and ugly sock!"-- I remember immediately asking my husband to set up my sewing machine and within an hour I had put together 2 heat/cold packs! BUT I had added some essential oils for relaxation, of course-- If you know me, you know how I LOVE my essential oils!!
As they went by I started to make more heat/cold packs, each one looked better, smelled better, and lasted longer. Of course-- during need, you seem to become even more creative. Soon I started to make other things like candles, coasters, cards, mugs, shirts, you name it! I was making it!!! I decided to offer my products to family and friends-- they knew we were going through a tough time and lovingly supported us. However, quickly their family and friends were hearing about us and my story. They were coming across my products and quickly started to order for themselves or as gifts.
Although my business remains quite small-- every single sale has allowed me to help support my husband/home financially. Most importantly, it has allowed me to be home with our youngest child and homeschool her. What our family went through was difficult for all of us but it certainly affected our youngest on a more deeper level.
Fast forward to 2023-- I suffered a seizure due to remaining blood in my brain- this landed me in the hospital for a week. With no health insurance and relying on my husband to cover most of our family's financial needs-- I am more determined than ever to grow my business!
Your support is much appreciated it. But if you take anything away from my story-- share it with others in hopes to encourage those going through a similar situation. My hope and trust are in Jesus- and he has most certainly taken care of us every step of the way.
Please reach out if you have questions. I love hearing stories!! If you have time, follow me on Facebook, Instagram, & TikTok-- there I share daily inspirations, talk about my story, and you can see some of the process of our crafty products!! And, If I can do it--- YES YOU CAN TOO!!! :)
Lots of love--
